Cavity Back
Thin topline, forgiveness from mass placement rather than bulk. A blade's look without a blade's punishment.
Players irons built on our own head geometry, in a finish nobody else will have. No catalog heads. No stock chrome.
The problem
If you want a Japanese-forged players iron, your choices are a handful of brands buying the same blanks from the same foundries, grinding them lightly, and deciding two things on your behalf: the shape, and the finish.
You get their cavity. You get raw, or chrome, or whatever limited edition dropped this season. If you want a set that's actually yours, you're paying bespoke prices and waiting months.
We're cutting our own dies. Our silhouette, our cavity, our sole — and a finish you pick.
The line
Designed as a single continuous system rather than a cavity back and a blade that happen to share a badge. Cavity depth is a formula across the set, not a compromise between two catalog models.
Thin topline, forgiveness from mass placement rather than bulk. A blade's look without a blade's punishment.
Compact, low offset, mass behind the sweetspot where the feel lives. A precision instrument, not a nostalgia piece.
A genuine transition. Cavity depth vanishes club by club from a full CB 4-iron to a true muscle back PW.
Ground for turf, not for a spec sheet. Coming after the irons.
The finish programme
iro — Japanese, colour.
Every set in the first run goes through IRO, finished to one specification: yours. No cerakote, no paint on a forged blade. Two routes, both honest about what they are.
Hand-torched and blued. The colours steel gives up when you heat it — straws, bronzes, plums, blues. It patinas as you play it, and no two sets could be identical even if we tried.
PVD over a plated base. Permanent, harder than chrome, thin enough it never touches the grooves. Metallic, not painted. A real palette, chosen by you.
How it's made
Most brands are vague about where their heads come from. We'd rather publish the process and let you judge it.
S20C/S25C soft carbon steel, forged from our own dies in the region that has made the world's best iron heads for decades. Grain flow runs hosel to toe and wraps the perimeter.
Cavity, muscle, sole and topline cut from the blank to our CAD. Every club gets its own cavity geometry rather than one shape scaled seven ways.
CNC milled after the face is machined to loft. More consistent than pressed grooves, and submitted to the USGA for conformance.
Torched and blued in Minnesota, or PVD coated to the colour you chose. Then stamped, numbered, and built to your specs.
Specification
Traditional lofts anchored on a 34° seven iron. Every set built to order and bent to your fitted numbers.
Who's behind it
I'm an engineering student in Minnesota with a manufacturing background and a long-running problem: I wanted a Japanese-forged set that was actually mine, and every route to one either cost four thousand dollars or meant accepting someone else's shape.
So I'm designing the head myself, cutting our own dies, and building the first twenty-five sets to order. I'll publish the CAD decisions, the mass properties, the costs, and the mistakes as they happen.
Nothing has been built yet. There's no warehouse, no tour player, no reviews. There's a spec sheet, a design in progress, and a foundry conversation. If that's too early for you, that's completely fair — join the list and watch.
